Established in May 2015, with headquarters in Lisbon, Esplêndido Douro is a Portuguese company whose activity consists in the export and sale of olive oil and olive products, all of a Premium nature, from the Region of Trás-os-Montes.

The creation of this company is due to the long and exhausted work developed almost five (5) years by its founders and partners, Jorge Caeiro, born in Lisbon, and Sheila Fitzgerald, a native of Seattle.

Making use of the know-how and personal experience in commercial and business, and with the strong contribution of Jorge and Sheila conceived the basic ideas that presided over the creation of the Esplendido Douro: creation of a Portuguese oil of very high quality; And commercialization / export to the whole World and, especially, to markets that don’t have this type of products and unknown in such product.

Esplêndido Douro controls and supervise the whole process that starts with the selection and harvesting of olive production, through the pressing, bottling and packaging of the oil is carried out.

The olive groves that this company uses and others located in very close Trás-os-montes lands, as well as the Facilities that develops the entire process of selection, harvesting and pressing of the olive and bottling and packaging of olive oil that has been presented to the market by the Esplendido Douro.

It is an olive oil produced from olive groves, grown in mineralized soil, derived from the unique climate of the Trás-os-montes region, to a large extent by the irrigation method and / or supported by "irrigation deficit"; Mixing a variety of olives (Verdeal Transmontana, Cobrançosa, Cordovil, and Madural); And being the result of the conjugation of a series of solid mechanical processes (extraction lines) carried out at temperatures never above 22 ° C (this is called the cold extraction process).

The result is a product of low acidity (0.2%), with the nature of Extra Virgin, coming from one of the six regions of the country classified as "Protected Designation of Origin" (PDO), which is known as Administrative decision between national and European authorities. Therefore, of very high quality.

In order to provide its customers with a gratifying experience of tasting and appreciation of all the good that can be extracted from its olives in its various forms, during the course of this year the Esplendido Douro intends to launch two new products: olive paste, With the brand "Tapanade Esplendido" and the olives, with the brand "Azeitona Esplendido".

With a view to giving a purely and exclusively Portuguese character to its products, Esplendido Douro formed partnerships with companies with extensive experience in this sector of activity.

It can be confidently affirmed to the World that from the raw material to the label of the bottle, through the cover and all the design and logo of the packaging, the products are produced and produced exclusively by Portuguese companies.

As far as marketing is concerned, and in view of its exporting vocation, the first businesses of Esplendido Douro took place in the United States, more specifically in the region of Seattle, in mid-April 2016, which implied the association with a local distributor. Months later, a partnership was made with another distributor for the Portland region.

Thanks to these partners and also to the online sales made through its website, the export of the olive oil of the Esplendido Douro has already begun to bear fruit, counting, at this moment, with 170 points of sale in American territory, among gourmet stores, supermarkets, Hotels, as they appear in the website of the Esplendido Douro.

The "Azeite Esplendido" is now enjoying a great prestige in the national and international market thanks to the highest quality standards adopted (i) in the selection of the raw material, (ii) the long experience of harvesting, and (Iii) the use of special pressing and bottling technology.

On its first year of commercialization the "Azeite Esplendido"  received the international acclaim, obtaining a gold medal in the New York Olive Oil Contest (NYOOC), competition held in April 2016. The recognition kept going, receiving two more gold medals in 2018 and 2019 from the NYOOC, on the category of medium blended oils.
